Founded in Hildesheim, Lower Saxony, in 2019, WEECO GmbH has all of the approvals and licences required to sell medical cannabis products. Amongst other things, this includes EU GDP certification (Good Distribution Practice).
In accordance with the statutory regulations, partners of WEECO GmbH are naturally also required without exception to comply with the highest pharmaceutical quality standards in the world – the EU GMP guidelines (Good Manufacturing Practice).
The WEECO quality management system precisely monitors compliance with all statutory regulations and thus guarantees the highest possible quality of the products.
Doctors have been able to prescribe medical cannabis for their patients since March 2017.
After the “Act to amend narcotic drugs provisions and other provisions” came into force, the right of insured patients to be supplied with cannabis in the form of extracts or dried flowers of uniform quality is regulated by Section 31 (6) SGB (German Social Code) V.
Cannabinoids are produced by the body itself. The endocannabinoid system is part of the nervous system and mainly comprises the cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2 including their natural ligands. If the amount of cannabinoids produced by the body is insufficient, they can be supplemented by cannabinoids from external sources in order to regulate and harmonise the processes in the body once again.
We know from surveys that there is a considerable demand for information on the mechanism of action for medical cannabis and how it should be prescribed.
WEECO is thus offering online lectures to accredited doctors and pharmacists free of charge from the middle of 2020.
The EU GDP certificate (Good Distribution Practice) is the basis for approval as a pharmaceutical wholesaler. The EU guidelines regulate, amongst other things, quality management, proper transport and storage of medicines, the use of specialist personnel and documentation of all stages of the process. The EU GMP guidelines (Good Manufacturing Practice) represent the highest pharmaceutical quality standards in the world.
